Walk : Artemis and/or Caledonia Waterfalls trail, depending on travellers preferences and time availability.

Duration : 6, 8 or 10 hours (different packages)

From : Limassol, Nicosia. Trip from Paphos or Larnaca takes longer in the car - less time for the walk. Only 8 or 10 hour trips are possible from Agia Napa or Protaras.

Highlights :

Artemis trail (8 km / 5 mi, flat and easy) at highest elevation. When the weather is clear it offers excellent vistas to many parts of Cyprus.

Caledonia Waterfalls Trail (linear, steep, 3 km long). In a lush valley crossing the stream a few times.

Depending on time availability and travellers preferences we may visit attractions eg a stone-built village, a medieval bridge, a Troodos painted church.

Transportation : Usually in a Citroen C8 MPV car.

Included: Guiding the walk and the trip.

Excluded : Food, drinks, entry fee at archaeological sites if any, etc.

The Trip:

It is primarily a walking trip that may be a combination between Artemis and Caledonia Waterfalls trail, depending on travellers’ preferences and time availability.

Duration : Six, Eight or Ten hours, depending on package selection

Pickup time : To be agreed with the travellers. Usually it is between 08:30 and 09:30.

Pickup location : At an agreed place (eg hotel, port, etc) usually in Limassol or Nicosia. It can be at other cities or resorts (eg Paphos, Larnaca, Pissouri, even Protaras or Agia Napa). From Agia Napa or Protaras the trip would make sense if the duration is 8 or 10 hours, as, due to the significant distance, there is considerable time to be spent in the car.

Itinerary : Initially we do the walk (s). If we have time we visit other attractions (natural and/or cultural). Once we complete the walk(s) we return to the pickup location stopping at attractions subject to time availability. The overall itinerary may differ depending on the pick up location. From Nicosia we may visit for example Kakopetria and or Agios Nicolaos tis Stegis Unesco World Heritage painted church. From Limassol we may visit Omodos village and/or Kelephos medieval Venetian bridge, etc. The trip may be customised to include a meal at a traditional village restaurant, winetasting, etc.

The Walks:

Artemis Nature Trail (8 km / 5 mi, flat and easy) is the highest elevation trail in Cyprus (on mount Olympus) with unique flora on the island. When the weather is clear it offers excellent vistas to many parts of Cyprus.

Caledonia Waterfalls Trail (linear, three km / two miles long and steep) at an elevation of down to 1,000 m offers quite a different environment (eg plane trees, strawberry trees, violas, brambles, bracken, trout if walkers are lucky, etc). It runs in a lush valley crossing the stream a few times and passes by Caledonia Falls.

The combination of the two trails offers a rich experience over a considerably elevation range in Cyprus. There are also other walks we could do in the area instead, for example Persephone which is of a similar length like Caledonia Waterfalls trail but quite flat.

Transportation :

We usually use a Citroen C8 MPV car.

What’s included:

Guiding in the walk and the trip in general.

What’s excluded :

Food, drinks, entry fee at archaeological sites if any, etc.

Itinerary : Pano Lefkara stone-built (Lefkara lace producing) village and  Unesco World Heritage Choirokoitia Neolithic settlement are the two basic attractions of this trip. Birdwatching at one of the wetlands near Larnaca is also highly recommended.

Visiting Unesco World Heritage Choirokoitia neolithic site is highly recommended, especially because its convenient geographic location, allows combos with exploration of other worthy attractions nearby.
Stone-built Pano Lefkara acquired considerable wealth in the past century through production and trade of the famed Lefkaritika lace. As per local tradition, Leonardo da Vinci visited the village, loved and bought Lefkaritika lace. Besides meandering through the maze of the village, the village's central church is worth a visit ( according to local tradition it houses a piece from the Holly Cross).
For those into birdwatching, we highly recommend to include a visit to one of three wetlands near Larnaca, as they host thousands of birds and tens of bird species (especially during the annual migration in spring but also in autumn). Thousands of flamingos find refuge during the cold months of the year here. The trip is customisable.

A Possible Walk:
Besides meandering inside Pano Lefkara village, and subject to time availability, travellers could do a linear walk on the dirt road around Lefkara manmade lake (one of the most beautiful manmade wetlands in Cyprus, having steep hills around it).

Transportation :

We usually use a Citroen C8 MPV car.

Guiding the trip in general and possibly a walk.

Walk : Akamas Panorama (short) upto (opt) Blue Lagoon cove from Limassol

Duration : 8 or 10 hours (different packages)

From : Limassol, Paphos. From Nicosia, Larnaca, Agia Napa or Protaras only 10 hour packages are possible.

Highlights :

Akamas is a jewel of Cyprus nature. The walk is largely along the ridge of the Akamas peninsula. Initially walkers enjoy vistas of Lara coast and consequently of the dramatic ragged north Akamas coast. There is a chapel and ruins of a monastery on the route.

Depending on time availability and travellers preferences we may extend the walk to Blue Lagoon cove / Fontana Amoroza or visit attractions on the itinerary.

Transportation : Usually in a Citroen C8 MPV car (collect from & return to Limassol).

Included: Guiding the walk and the trip.

Excluded : Food, drinks, entry fee at archaeological sites if any, etc.

The Trip:

It is a walking trip along the ridge of Akamas peninsula to the north Akamas coast. Depending on time availability (for 10-hour trips from Paphos or Limassol) and travellers’ preferences the walk may be extended to reach Blue Lagoon cove (with possibility of swimming) or the adjacent Fontana Amoroza cove.

Duration : Eight or Ten hours, depending on package selection

Pickup time : To be agreed with the travellers. Usually it is between 08:00 and 09:00.

Pickup location : At an agreed place (eg hotel, port, etc) usually in Paphos or Limassol. 10 hour trips can start at other cities or resorts (eg Larnaca, Nicosia, even Protaras or Agia Napa).

Itinerary : The trip is all about the walk (with the possibility for swimming at Blue Lagoon for 10-hour trips from Paphos or from Limassol) . If we have time we visit other attractions (natural and/or cultural, eg. Kolossi castle, near Limassol). Once we complete the walk we return to the pickup location stopping at attractions subject to time availability. The trip may be customised to include a meal at a coastal or traditional village restaurant (or other activities).

The Walk:

The walk is in Akamas, a pristine, almost untouched by man, rich in biodiversity area of Cyprus. Usually we start walking in Neo Chorio village and initially go through farmland west to the Smiyies picnic area. From there the route goes north (offering views to Lara coast) and ascends to the peak known as 'Moutti tis Sotiras' from where one enjoys unobstructed views of the north Akamas coast from Cape Arnaouti, the tip of Akamas, towards the  north west to Polis Bay and all the way to Pomos in the north east. After a pause for a picnic and for enjoying the majestic view we walk to Baths of Aphrodite cave on the Aphrodite trail (the last stretch is on the coastal dirt road, near the cliff).

We can make other arrangements for shorter walks in the area if travellers prefer (eg. do the 7-km Aphrodite trail or even a one way coastal walk along the ragged Akamas north coast with boat transportation -for a fee- in the opposite way). We can also arrange to extend the walk to Blue Lagoon cove, an excellent place for swimming in our Cyprus (or to the adjacent Fontana Amoroza cove).

Transportation :

We usually use a Citroen C8 MPV car.

What’s included:

Guiding in the walk and the trip in general.

What’s excluded :

Food, drinks, entry fee at archaeological sites if any, etc.

In our opinion, visiting one of the ten Unesco World Heritage Troodos Painted Churches in Cyprus is a must do activity in our Cyprus.
The laid-back old part of Kakopetria village offers an excellent example of Cyprus rural architecture and a collection of attractions (eg a traditional man powered olive press).  For those into nature, a walk up in (almost unique) Troodos is also highly recommended, as is a meal at one of a few village restaurants.
